Since the advent of Part P in 2005 and current roll out of the 17th edition of the wiring regulations, it has become increasingly more difficult for non-professionals to carry out even minor electrical work in a domestic premises. This is principally due to the increased regulations regarding the use of miniature circuit breakers MCBs and Residual Current Devices RCDs. 17th edition wiring regulations
From January 1st to December 31st 2008 the 17th edition of the wiring regulations is being phased in.
